The aim of this portal is to harvest the maximum number of scattered data at centralized space in a machine-readable format by backing the open data philosophy.

Public agencies, civil societies, INGOs, development partners, researchers, journalists, students etc can register, contribute and use these data for visualisations, researchers, apps, services etc according to the open licenses provided by the publisher.

What are the sources of these datasets?

The datasets published at Open Data Nepal portal are harvested from different public agencies working under the government of Nepal. You can find the list of all official data sources from the organization tab or can suggest datasets.

What are the processes of finding data easily?

You can easily find the datasets you are looking for by filtering the datasets with categories, tags, formats, organizations, licenses, and groups.

How can I use these data?

You can use the datasets available in the portal for both commercial and non-commercial purpose without any legal and technical restriction. But do remember to mention the proper attribution according to the licences provided by the publisher.

What are the types of data format?

The data can be available in different formats like CSV, TSV, KML, XLS, XML, JSON, RDF etc.
