It shows the number of GBV complaints handled by para-legal committees of Department of Women and Children, Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare in the year of 2010. Accordingly, a total of 10,149 cases of GBV were recorded. Out of them, the Para-legal committees disposed of 8378 and remaining 1524 were referred to Police and other NGOs. Data also reveal different types of crime and violence have been occurring in the country such as abuse and harassment, psychological torture, polygamy, child marriage, divorced, rape, citizenship related, child labor exploitation, trafficking in persons, sexual abuse, security related, incest and inter-caste marriage.
